The "Overhead Myth"

The Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance, GuideStar, and Charity Navigator recently sent a letter to Donors of America about the "Overhead Myth" saying, "The percent of charity expenses that go to administrative and fundraising costs--commonly referred to as "overhead"--is a poor measure of a charity's performance.  We ask you to pay attention to other factors of nonprofit performance: transparency, governance, leadership, and performance." See the full letter below.

You can help a child explore the world and learn how to read.  The Homeless Families Foundation Dowd Education Center library and reading programs need new books.  Your donation will help us restock the library and provide needed books for the reading mentor program that allows volunteers to work one-on-one with children to improve their reading.
