The Homeless Families Foundation (HFF) was created by volunteers in 1986 and volunteers continue to play a major role in combating family homelessness in Columbus. At HFF, people from all walks of life come together to help families in need become self-sufficient.
Thank you for considering a volunteer opportunity at The Homeless Families Foundation!
Below, you will find detailed information about our volunteer program and registration options for your upcoming volunteer activity!
Who can Volunteer?
The Homeless Families Foundation relies on individuals and volunteer groups to help us in our facility and at HFF events. Anyone can volunteer and training is not required for certain tasks. Volunteer assignments that involve working directly with youth in our programs requires a minimum commitment of one hour a week for six months and three references. You may volunteer one time, or on a regular basis.
Registration for individual volunteers:
New volunteers are required to sign up for a shift using our online application.
Returning volunteers simply log in to the Volunteer Portal, select a shift, and will receive a confirmation email.
Once you have selected your shift, upon arrival, each volunteer is asked to “check-in” via our volunteer station. If you are in need of supplementary documentation to verify the number of hours you worked, please bring the proper paperwork with you, and a HFF staff member will provide the necessary information and approval.
Registration for volunteer groups:
Volunteering at The Homeless Families Foundation is a great team-building experience for groups of all sizes. Whether you are a corporation, a small club, or a school group, you will work together on a hands-on project at HFF.
The Group Leader must complete the appropriate application below and upon approval, each group member must complete an application.
Come join our team for any volunteer opportunity at our special events! No commitment is required, all you need to do is to fill out an application below.
For returning volunteers, you do not need to fill out the application, simply log in to the Volunteer Portal, select a shift, and you will receive a confirmation email.
