Dowd Center OlympicsOn March 29th, the dowd Center Olympics took place. What a day! The children had a "ball" and their parents cheered them on. Many thanks to John Houk, who created it the event as his senior thesis for Upper Arlington High School. He recruited his dad, Jim Houk and support from the Columbus Rotary, Lamont Holden, recreation direct/youth advocate, Hff staff, nursing volunteers from Boehecker College, OSU student volunteers. Activities were age-centered and groups participated in nutrition classes with fun quizzes on smart food choices. Participants received a uniform to keep, their own pedometer, and were trained to take their pulse and watch for optimum achievement.
Pushups are hard!
